PASSION PLAY, 2003, Arcadia
Passion Play is the story of one woman's
search for meaning in the latter half of the 20th Century.
It is a tour de force exploration
of the consciousness of a contemporary woman. It is a novel in a
collection of fragments - dreams, notes, diary entries, travel sketches,
confessions, prose poems, short stories – linked by recurrent
themes which create a mosaic of meaning.
The fragmentary structure reflects
that this is a book all about brokenness – broken relationships,
broken journeys, broken communities, broken connections with the
spirit. ‘Passion’ has at least two meanings here –
the passion of love and desire, and the passion of religion, the
search for traces of God in the broken images and symbols of a godless
age.
